Brazilian company Mombak is accelerating its mission to restore the Amazon rainforest, launching a new $150 million fund. This significant effort is backed by a fresh multi-year agreement with tech giant Salesforce, adding to a growing list of major corporate partners. By reforesting degraded land, Mombak helps remove harmful carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, crucial for combating global warming. This initiative showcases a powerful blend of private investment and nature-based solutions working to protect our planet's vital ecosystems.

Brazilian carbon removal company Mombak has taken a significant step forward, initiating its second major fund aimed at raising $150 million for Amazon reforestation. This vital work is bolstered by a new agreement with Salesforce, a major tech firm, signaling growing corporate commitment to climate action. Additionally, Brazil’s state development bank, BNDES, is providing a substantial credit line, bringing public and private finance together to heal one of the world's most critical ecosystems. This concerted effort is essential for drawing down carbon from the atmosphere and reversing the deforestation that fuels global warming, benefiting us all.

Mombak’s track record demonstrates real progress. Its initial $120 million fund successfully restored degraded areas across 15 Amazonian farms, leading to the planting of nearly 15 million native trees. Importantly, the company has already delivered over 21,000 tonnes of certified carbon removal credits ahead of schedule, proving that large-scale, high-integrity reforestation can deliver tangible results. This success is crucial for building trust in nature-based climate solutions and accelerating their adoption worldwide.

The increasing demand for carbon removals is clear, with purchases growing rapidly, especially for nature-based projects like Mombak’s. Data from CDR.fyi’s 2025 market survey confirms that nature-based removals remain a larger market than engineered solutions in the near term. While tech companies have led the way, interest is now expanding to other industries, a positive sign for the future of climate finance. It’s important to remember that these carbon removal efforts work alongside, not instead of, companies reducing their own direct emissions, creating a comprehensive approach to tackling climate change.

However, success depends on more than just funding; it requires careful, long-term commitment. Ensuring strong land rights, continuous monitoring, and robust safeguards against risks like fires are paramount to making these reforestation projects truly lasting. Mombak’s ability to attract diverse buyers and deploy capital effectively will be a key indicator of how quickly we can scale impactful solutions that protect our environment, create green jobs, and help secure a healthier future for the Amazon and the planet.
