This design, once an asset, is now a major challenge as the region experiences more intense and prolonged heatwaves. Homes often lack proper cooling systems or ventilation, transforming them into uncomfortable and potentially unsafe ovens during the summer months.
The good news is that a simple yet effective solution exists: cool roofs. These roofs use special reflective coatings or materials that prevent the sun's heat from being absorbed. By reflecting sunlight, cool roofs significantly reduce the temperature inside buildings, making living spaces much more comfortable without relying heavily on energy-intensive air conditioning.
