Elon Musk recently made a surprising admission on social media, reversing his earlier skepticism about AI company Anthropic. He acknowledged being 'clearly wrong' about their potential, now praising them as an industry leader. This shift comes as Anthropic utilizes significant computing power from Musk's own venture, SpaceXAI, sparking discussions about fair competition in the rapidly evolving artificial intelligence sector. Musk maintains his commitment to ethical rivalry and technological advancement.

Musk’s June 9 post on X marked a dramatic turnaround from his previous stance in September, when he openly doubted Anthropic’s chances in the intense AI race. Now, he recognizes their advanced models as superior, specifically highlighting their progress.

This acknowledgment is particularly notable because Anthropic has been securing crucial computing resources through a deal with SpaceXAI, an AI infrastructure venture owned by Musk. Despite providing essential support to a competitor, Musk has affirmed his commitment to not disadvantage them. He emphasized that hurting a rival is 'not my style,' even when competing directly.

To underline his philosophy of ethical competition, Musk referenced examples from his other companies. Tesla famously open-sourced its electric vehicle patents years ago, aiming to accelerate the adoption of sustainable transportation worldwide. Similarly, Tesla made its Supercharger network available to other electric car manufacturers, transforming it into a shared resource that benefits the entire EV industry and helps us move faster towards a cleaner future.

SpaceX also launches satellites for competing commercial systems without unfair terms, and Musk noted that even his critics use his social media platform freely. These actions illustrate his long-standing belief that technological progress thrives best through open competition and shared infrastructure, rather than stifling rivals. In the fast-paced AI world, where computing power and model capabilities are key, Musk’s approach underscores a focus on innovation and performance above all.
