This latest merchandise idea follows the company's tradition of releasing bizarre, yet highly popular, limited-edition items. Though details are scarce, Musk suggests the item will glow in the dark and that a Geiger counter will be an optional add-on. This playful announcement comes as The Boring Company makes real progress on its tunneling projects, including expanding the Vegas Loop.
Elon Musk recently took to X to hint at the next quirky product from The Boring Company, known for its unique and often sold-out merchandise. He described the upcoming item as one that will “put Uranium in Uranus,” adding that it will glow in the dark so you can find it. A Geiger counter, Musk joked, would be sold separately as an “optional strap-on.” He highlighted the company’s unique approach to merchandise, aiming for items that are both “outrageously unsellable and yet extremely popular.”
This isn't the first time The Boring Company has turned a joke into a best-seller. Past products like the Not-a-Flamethrower, which raised millions, the fast-selling Burnt Hair perfume, and Boring Bricks made from tunneling spoil, all started as playful concepts before achieving cult status. The company recently announced plans to significantly expand the number of operational stations on its Vegas Loop by the end of the year. Additionally, its tunnel boring machine, Prufrock-5, recently completed a test tunnel in Texas and is set for its next assignment, showing real momentum in its core business.
