Jake Fisher, a senior director at Consumer Reports, noted that Tesla's ability to refine its existing models without constant major overhauls has paid off. Unlike many traditional automakers who frequently redesign their cars, leading to new issues, Tesla focuses on improving its Model 3 and Model Y through software updates delivered wirelessly. This steady approach allows them to smooth out problems and build more dependable vehicles over time.

While most Tesla models are showing better reliability, the new Cybertruck was an exception, scoring below average in the 2026 rankings. However, given Tesla's track record of improving its vehicles over time, it's possible the Cybertruck will see similar gains in future years. For car buyers, this news means electric vehicles, particularly from Tesla, are becoming increasingly reliable and a more confident choice for the long run.
