Tesla Quietly Halts In-House Vehicle Wrap Service
Tesla has officially discontinued its in-house vehicle wrap service, a customization option first launched in China in 2020 and introduced to the U.S. in October 2023. The service, which allowed owners to change their car's look with vinyl wraps, was only available in a handful of locations in California and Washington. Despite the popularity of vehicle wraps among Tesla owners seeking unique aesthetics, the program's limited geographic reach likely contributed to its brief lifespan.
Tesla has removed its vehicle wrap service from its online shop, marking the end of a relatively short-lived in-house customization option. The service began in China in 2020 and expanded to the U.S. in October 2023, giving Model 3, Model Y, and Cybertruck owners the chance to personalize their vehicles.
However, the wrap service was always geographically restricted, only available in five locations across California and Washington. This limited presence meant Tesla struggled to compete with the vast number of local detailing shops and mobile services that offer similar customization options across the country. Many Tesla owners appreciate wraps for adding unique colors, patterns, or finishes, transforming their cars from standard glossy to satin or matte looks.
While popular, Tesla's program never achieved widespread adoption or disrupted the existing wrap industry due to its narrow scope. Along with the wrap service, several other minor items have also been removed from Tesla's online store, indicating a streamlining of product offerings.
