Elon Musk revealed at the xAI Hackathon that Tesla's Full Self-Driving (FSD) unsupervised capability is 'pretty much solved,' with Robotaxi safety monitors removing in weeks. A new model, an order of magnitude larger and boosted by reasoning and reinforcement learning, launches in January or February 2026. This pushes Tesla toward true autonomy, enhancing electric vehicles' appeal. FSD optimizes driving for efficiency, slashing energy use and emissions—key for fighting climate change and accelerating sustainable transport.

Elon Musk dropped big news on Tesla's Full Self-Driving during a Q&A at the xAI Hackathon. He confirmed unsupervised FSD is nearly ready, with Robotaxi safety monitors gone in the next three weeks in Austin.

A huge upgrade is coming: a model ten times larger, packed with advanced reasoning and reinforcement learning, set for early 2026. Musk even floated building Tesla's own massive chip factory to keep up with AI demands.

This builds on recent FSD versions like v14, where driver monitoring eases up—no more nags for glancing at your phone. While not perfect yet, it's the closest to hands-free driving.

Autonomous EVs like these mean smoother traffic, fewer crashes, and optimized routes that cut battery drain and emissions. It's a win for cleaner air and the urgent shift from fossil fuels.
