Texas Homes Get Power Security for Just $35 Monthly.
Tesla Energy is rolling out a new Powerwall Lease program in Texas, offering homeowners whole-home backup power for a net cost of just $35 per month after credits. This initiative provides two Powerwall units and a fixed electricity rate through Tesla Electric. It aims to boost grid resilience and offer crucial protection during severe weather events, ensuring households maintain power when the traditional grid falters. This move highlights a growing commitment to sustainable, reliable energy solutions for a changing climate.
Tesla Energy has launched an accessible Powerwall Lease program in Texas, making whole-home backup power more attainable. For a net monthly cost of just $35 after specific credits, customers can secure two Powerwall units and benefit from a low, fixed electricity rate when enrolled in Tesla Electric. There's a one-time order fee, with the base lease payment around $122 per month, offset by an $87 monthly credit for participating in a qualifying Tesla Electric Backup or Virtual Power Plant plan. Standard installation comes at no extra charge.
This system provides continuous power, crucial for homes facing increasing grid instability and severe weather—a clear reminder of climate change's impacts. The Powerwalls automatically kick in during outages, ensuring essentials like lights and refrigeration stay on without interruption. Users manage the entire system easily through a single Tesla application, gaining peace of mind that their home is prepared.
A key feature is Storm Watch, which actively monitors weather forecasts. This intelligent system charges the Powerwalls to full capacity before anticipated storms, guaranteeing maximum power availability throughout any disruption. This proactive approach underscores the value of sustainable energy solutions in building resilient communities.
The program is currently available in select Texas areas where retail electric choice is offered. To qualify, participants must lease exactly two Powerwall units and maintain continuous enrollment with Tesla Electric. It's important to note that this specific lease arrangement does not include solar panels. Nonstandard installations, such as those requiring electrical upgrades, may incur additional costs and could affect eligibility for the monthly credit, so checking details with Tesla or an installer is recommended.
